TMS320F28388S: switch device using syccfg tool

I started an example project "gpio_ex2_toggle" from the "D:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_3_04_00_00\driverlib\f2838x\examples\c28x\gpio\". The original device type is 28388D. I tried to switch the device type to my actual device which is 28388S using syscfg tool.

I clicked the switch button, and selected the CCS Launch Device with TMS320F28388S.

However, after I confirmed the selection, the CCS Launch device was still TMS320F28388D when I opened it again.

Also, the general description of the project was TMS320F28388D as shown below.

It seems that I couldn't change the device type.

Then I created a new project and did the similar operation above. This time, the CCS Launch device was always F28384D.

So, how to switch device type if I want to use syscfg tool?

It looks like SysConfig will not signal CCS to switch project properties if the only change is the CCS Launch Device. To work around this you could switch to a completely different device or part, save, then switch back (ensuring you select the correct CCS Launch Device on the switch back). I would backup the SysConfig script before doing that in case the switch has to change something for the new device.
