Hi All I need to implement UAVCAN. i am New to CAN protocol.

what is UAVCAN and how its differ from CAN2.0.

could please share any example code

also share some document to start with learning .

Hi Rajakumar,

UAVCAN is an open standard mainly for intravehicular computing implementing CAN and other networking protocols. Unfortunately, we do not have support for this open system. I think you can get more information from the open source site uavcan.org. The CAN module in F280049 is compliant to BOSCH CAN2.0 protocol. There are several CAN communications examples that use can start using from C2000Ware.

Being new to CAN i strongly recommend to download application report http://www.ti.com/lit/sprace5 . It has many tested examples.

Application report http://www.ti.com/lit/spracq3 depicts lot of easy to understand waveforms and also provide a tool to introduce error at a chosen bit location.

The TRM chapter explains the CAN protocol implementation in the MCU. i.e. it explains the function of registers/bits. However, it does not explain the protocol itself. For protocol information, refer to these excellent videos:

Hi Rajakumar,

CAN is a proprietary IP from Bosch and its protocol is defined by it. The HW requirement is straightforward where is CAN node, be it from the F280049 device, or from any other device that has a CAN module, has to interface to a physical layer, called CAN bus through a transceiver. This is the basic HW requirement of any CAN node.

UAVCAN relies on this basic CAN HW requirement. It just has an added higher level SW protocol to for message handling specifically catering to the needs of intravehicular computing.
