Standalone Flash Programming Tool for C2000

Does C2000 Family, in particular Picollo, have a stand-alone programming tool similar to the Stellaris LMFlash Programming GUI? If so, the customer would like to have the source code so it could be modified for their own internal use.

Customer has existing experience with Microchip and Microchip has posted an app note AN1157 that contains source code which describes a serial bootloader using a UART. From here, they built their own standalone GUI to do functions similarily found in LMFlash Programmer.

Unfortunately, this is not full open source, and the Bootloader is licensed.

Tom,

The Flash API allows for any customization that you may want, we just don't provide a free GUI for you to customize specifically for flash programming.

We do provide the source on some of our kit GUIs though, and some customers have modified for their own use.

the lighting kit has the source

for motor control kits we are using Crosshairs GUI tool. It's sweet. However, I'm not sure if it can hook up to a blank device and flash it....let me check with them.

When I talked with Michael Wei, he said the source code for MultiAxisGUI was going to be available in couple months in ControlSUITE. Can the availability be accelerated?

Which source?

In next week's cS release we will include the Crosshairs version of the multi-axis GUI, this includes source. We need their Interface Designer tool to use the source. They offer a free trial and the full cost of the tool is extremely reasonable.

I wasn't aware that we were putting out the source for the TI version of the GUI, let me check with Michael.

I have a general question. If the BOOT ROM was implemented, there must have been some test program to verify the implemented boot modes: CAN, SPI, SCI, I2C, etc. What program was used? If it was a "development tool", could this be made available on an "AS IS " basis? Again, this would save alot of time as it provides a reference.

They don't test any of their boot modes by programming Flash with a GUI tool. They have special test equipment for doing this task. For SPI and I2C, they use an external SPI and I2C EEPROM with code loaded in them to boot from the E2. For CAN, they use Vector's CANalyzer to manually send some Hex bytes over the expected order.
