TIDM-1000: Is it possible to use SDFM Il measure only and no hal sensor for current measure?

Part Number: TIDM-1000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28379D, TMS320F28388D

I would like to use just SDFM connected AMC1305 for current measurement and get rid of hal sensor. Is it possible for the control loop perspective?

What could be disadvantage?

I tried to set VIENNA_SDFM_SENSING and then continue with the Build 1 to confirm that everything can work this way, but I can't get the Real-time view of a expressions. What can be wrong or what should I change to get the real time view?

I'm using TMS320F28379D based control card, but I do have TMS320F28388D as well.

  • Hi Pawel,

You should be able to use SDFM for your current measurement only. You probably need to change the VIENNA_SDFM_SENSING as you mentioned.

Could you explain what do you see in the expression window? could you provide a screenshot?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Chen

  • Hi Chen,

I'm starting with input AC turned down to zero on AC autotransformer. Basically I'm doing everything like described in Build 1, with VIENNA_SDFM_SENSING set to 1.

When I start the debug session, turn on real-time, then I don't see any update in any values in expression window (no yellow background with updated values). Can't get and/or set values either. I tried on C28x and CLA set. Without VIENNA_SDFM_SENSING everything seems to work perfectly fine. Is there anything that should be changed beside the SDFM setting?

  • Hi Pawel,

That is weird. KI don't think you need to do anything else. Could you try the f28388x and see if you have same issue?

Which version of digital power sdk are you using?

    Regards,
