TMS320F28062: PZP vs PZT package

Part Number: TMS320F28062

Hi Champs!

Customer ordered and received TMS320F28062PZPS (HTQFP100 with thermal pad) instead of TMS320F28062PZTR (LQFP100, no thermal pad).

Question:

PZP and PZT seems to have same pad footprint.

Q:
Can PZP (thermal pad) package be soldered on PZT PCB footprint ?

Anything to mind here ?

  • Assuming the customer will keep the operating temperature within the "T" range of 105C max, then the thermal pad can be left floating on the PZP package.  As you mention the pins/footprint is identical between the 2 packages.

The reason the "S" and "Q" variants are PZP vs PZ, is to dissipate the heat at those temps above 105C to the max of 125C.

    Best,
    Matthew
