TMS320F28335: Uniflash unattended installer.

Part Number: TMS320F28335
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

I am attempting to run the uniflash installer through a script so that we all have the same support options.  I'm using Windows 10 build 1909.  What I have attempted:

1) unpack uniflash:  tar -xf uniflash_3.4.1.00012_win32.zip

2) cd Uniflash_3.4.1.00012_win32

3) start /w uniflash_setup_3.4.1.00012.exe --unattendedmodeui minimalWithDialogs --mode unattended --prefix C:\ti\uniflash_3.4 --enable-components processor,debugserver,c2000_jtag,debugserver --disable-components simplelink_cc1xxx_cc2xxx,simplelink_wifi,mcu,c2000_serial,hercules,msp430,msp432,stellaris,stellaris_alt,sitara,ucd_digital,ucd31xx_device_support

This fails with an error message:  There has been an error.  Error running (the above) ***unknown variable ti_enable_components***: Program ended with an error exit code.

According to the post: <e2e.ti.com/.../ccs-uniflash-failure-in-silent-installation-of-uniflash>, 3.4.1 has known issues with --mode unattended and to use 4.x:  Uniflash 4.x has been released and while it doesn't allow you to select components, it does install correctly in unattended mode. So, I started to download version 4.x from the TI website -- only versions 6.4, 3.4.1, and cloud are available.

Any information you can provide to help me get through this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

  • Andy,

We asked our UniFlash team to help you with this.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hi Andy,

So, I started to download version 4.x from the TI website -- only versions 6.4, 3.4.1, and cloud are available.

I would suggest using the latest UniFlash version (6.4). It should support the same unattended mode installation that was supported with UniFlash 4.

If you still want to use UniFlash 4.x, you can obtain it from the below link:

    Download UniFlash 4.6

Note that this version is unsupported. Hence I do suggest updating to the latest version if possible.

    Thanks

    ki

  • We have the SD C2000 XDS510LC JTag probes.  I would be great if you would provide support for these probes for those of us who already own a dozen of these, but you won't.  Due to this, I'm stuck using the 3.4.1 code release.  Your support pages suggest to update to 4.x.  I'll gladly do that (assuming the support for my probes are there) if I can make the unattended installer work.

    Thanks,

    Andy

  • Andy,

Spectrum Digital stopped providing software support for their XDS510 probes quite a few years ago and have since closed up shop.  The old drivers and software that exists for them will not work in newer versions of Code Composer Studio and UniFlash.

I believe it may be possible to drop in XDS510 support into UniFlash v4.  It is old enough that the legacy spectrum content is still compatible.  I can see if there are instructions on how to do this.  It has been a few years since I have looked at that.

    Options:

    1) Try to create a UniFlash v3 package that you can then provide to other team members.  I.e. install it on one machine with the options you want and then zip that up for redistribution.  For XDS510 to work you may need to run a driver install script afterwards.

    2) See if we can find the instructions for adding SD XDS510 support to UniFlash v4.  Still likely going to require you to create your own package as the 510 files would need to be dropped on top and driver registration script run.

    3) Another option might be SDFlash, which was the flashing utility that Spectrum provided.

    Regards,

    John
