TMS320F28069 controlStick Triggered ADC Example Consistently Aborts in Code Composer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Trying to run the F28069  controlStick application "Triggered ADC Example" in Code Composer, but Code Composer

aborts EVERY TIME.I try to run this.

Specifically, I follow the instructions in the TMDX28069USB Quick Start Guide.pdf file on pp.5-6. after making the selections indicated and clicking the debug icon,

Code Composer proceeds to abort with an unintelligible message that starts:

"JVM terminated. Exit code=1
C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\ccsv4\eclipse\jre\bin\javaw.exe\
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
etc..."

This is a new install of Code Composer ver. 4.1.2.00027.

I have run this successfully AND successfully written and run many motor drive routines for the F28069 using Code Composer ver. 4.2.1.00004 installed on another computer.

What's the problem with this Code Composer install?

  • SOLUTION:

Did 2 passes of updates to Code Composer ver. 4.1.2.00027. This resulted in Code Composer "becoming" ver. 4.2.3.00004 .

Also, to use the Piccolo F28069 Experimenter's Kit, it is necessary to select the controlSTICK -- Piccolo F28069 as the device under the Texas Instruments XDS100v1 USB Emulator. The Experimenter's Kit will not work if Experimenter's Kit -- Piccolo F28069 is selected as the device (??).

In addition, BEFORE running the debug session, go to debug icon drop-down, left-click "debug", and DELETE the file listed under "Project Debug Session."

Then, CLOSE that dialog box, and left-click the debug icon on the toolbar.

The debug session ran, the F28069 Experimenter board loaded, and successfully executed the controlSuite test code and motor drive code that I have written.
