XDS110 and XDS200 unable to program TMS320F28374S

I am using xds110 and xds200 for development and production purpose.

XDS110 was fresh and I used it only once to check it when I received it and it was fine. After three months, again try to use it but was unable to program the controller TMS320F28374S controller.

Following error comes.

"Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK). (Emulation package 9.3.0.00042)"

The same case happened in my production facility. they are using the XDS200 and all working fine up to the end of the day. When they again started production the next day, then XDS200 giving an error.

To cross verify, I used another XDS110 and it is working fine. Can you tell me more about this error and how to fix it.

When I directly hitting on debug button. This error coming

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -6305) PRSC module failed to write to a router register.
(Emulation package 9.3.0.00042)

My problem got resolved for XDS110.

I used a 2.2K resistor to pull down the TRST pin of the controller. I went through some e2e threads and found someone facing the same problem and change the 2.2K resistor to 10k. the same thing I did and the problem got resolved.

I used a 2.2K resistor for TRST recommended by the TMS320F28374S datasheet. Can you please give the reason, why the programmer not working with 2,2k properlly?

Datasheet Says:

"JTAG test reset with internal pulldown. TRST, when driven high, gives the scan system control of the operations of the device. If this signal is driven low, the device operates in its functional mode, and the test reset signals are ignored. NOTE: TRST must be maintained low at all times during normal device operation. An external pulldown resistor is required on this pin. The value of this resistor should be based on drive strength of the debugger pods applicable to the design. A 2.2-kΩ or smaller resistor generally offers adequate protection. The value of the resistor is application-specific. TI recommends that each target board be validated for proper operation of the debugger and the application. This pin has an internal 50-ns (nominal) glitch filter".

Can you tell me the side effect of increasing the value of the pull-down resistor for 2.2K to 10k or any other value?

Rahul,

I checked with expert. If 10k PD works on your system, it should be fine.
