TMS320F280049C: The use of TDI/TDO as GPIO output pin

Part Number: TMS320F280049C

Hi Champ,

I am asking for our customer.

The customer needs extra pin for GPIO(64-pin PM version ), is it a way to use the TDI/TDO as GPIO output pin ?

For my understanding, it should be ok in the standalone mode (without JTAG emulator) that TDI/TDO are used as GPIO output, am I correct ?

If so, is there any more concern of using TDI/TDO are used as GPIO ?

Thanks for any comment and help. Thanks !

BR, Johnny

  • Hi Johnny,

TDI/TDO can be used as GPIO output pins or any of the other MUX signal options documented in the datasheet. If JTAG is still desired on the customer's board they can use 2-pin CJTAG, which uses TMS and TCK only. This will make the TMS signal bi-directional.

If so, is there any more concern of using TDI/TDO are used as GPIO ?

No other concern, however TDI/TDO are the default MUX options on these pins. They will need to be re-configured in SW.

    Best,

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

I see. Thanks for your reply. Because of lower speed, CJTAG is not preferred by the customer.

However, good to clarify this. Thanks a lot !
