Pulse trigger control circuit to fire an SCR controlled rectifier

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F280025

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Are C2000 microcontrollers appropriate for the customer requirements below? If it is, what specific C2000 could you recommend?

"I´ve been searching if you have an IC that can use for my application. It's for a pulse trigger control circuit to fire a SCR controlled rectifier.
I'm designing a AC to DC motor drive that uses a basic topology of Bridge controlled rectifier with SCR, and I´ve been looking for and IC that can provide the trigger pulse to the SCR with phase angle control."

Thanks and regards,

Art

  • Thanks for reaching out to the E2E forum.  We’re working to get your question correctly assigned within the C2000 team.  You should receive a reply within the next business day.

  • Art,

I am not sure whether you would like to trigger based on zero crossing detection or PLL tracking loop. For zero crossing, you can leverage our on chip CMPSS module (comparator with DAC for threshold). Depend on your other requirement, most C2000 microcontroller should be sufficient to control an SCR for motor control. We also have different peripherals that will help with your motor control, for example eQEP for Quadrature encoder input. One good cost effective option would be TMS320F280025. Thanks.
