TMS320F28069: Upgrading processor

Part Number: TMS320F28069
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28384D, C2000WARE, TMDSCNCD28388D

Hi,

We are using TMS320F28069 in a process control product. We want to upgraded it to a better C2000 Product. F283xx looks good. We need Ethernet, External Memory, More internal mem, 512K to 1M Flash. Single/dual core will do.

Rest of the features of 28069 remain the same.

What controllers should i look at. What are the software migration challenges.

  • Yes, with the Ethernet requirement the TMS320F28384D or 384S are what you want to evaluate.

These devices have a connectivity manager (Arm CM4 CPU with dedicated memory and comms peripherals) so there is a re-architecting of your software most likely.

From the control side you have FPU64, TMU, and all peripherals are upgraded. The ADC and analog sub-system is the most significant change.

TMDSCNCD28388D is the controlCARD to use and examples are in C2000Ware or one of the MotorControl or DigitalPower SDKs.

  • Thanks Chris.

I have started the upgrade design work. Bundle of thanks
