LAUNCHXL-F28379D: Microcontroller or development board to control Scanlab's basiCube10

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28379D

Hi Team,

Our customer is looking for a microcontroller or development board to control Scanlab's basiCube10 which uses XY2-100 Protocol. Are Beaglebone black or LaunchXL-F28379D suitable for this application? I have searched our website and forum but there are limited information available regarding XY2-100 protocol.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Danilo,

There is not that much information on this protocol  XY2-100 even with Google, it looks like this is a CAD/CAM type standard specifically for laser/mirror control which agrees with the application.

From a C2000 perspective there's certainly no drivers/dll that we have native.  I will pass the thread to the Sitara-MCU team to see if they have exposure to this market/protocol.

On Scanlab's webpage, they have native control boards they sell; it appears there is a TI DSP on them, which would imply capability(but there is also FPGA so it may not be the only component needed to realize it either.

    Best,
    Matthew

  • Hi Danilo,

Sitara MCU does not support the XY2-100 protocol at this point. It is possible to support such protocol via the ICSS/PRU (which presents in almost all our SoCs, but the development of the firmware for the ICSS/PRU will need some effort and time.

    Best regards,
