TMS320LF2406A: OTIS Error - Failed Emulation connection to the target - DSP Reset Failed error

Dear Technical Authorised Person,

I am calling from Dema Relay Company in Istanbul. My name is Atakan Orhan.

We have been manufacturing Digital Overcurrent Relays and we have been using TMS320LF2406APZA as microprocessor. Microprocessor emulator is XDS510 USB JTAG Emulator. We use Spectrum Digital's DSP Program software (SD Flash). We are choosing program file and install it. After that we are trying to reset it but we faced "OTIS -1046 "Failed emulation connection to the target - DSP Reset failed" error. We need to solve this problem quickly. Texas Instrument's rapidly support will be highly appreciated for us.

    Atakan,

                  Please answer the following questions carefully: 

    1. Are you able to connect to the device using CCSv3.3?
    2. If so, are you able to run code from RAM?
    3. Is this a new device? (which means it is unsecure)
    4. If not, is it secured with passwords?
    5. Have you tried different devices?

    We need to isolate this issue between a hardware issue (an issue with the JTAG debug probe or the DSP itself) or a software issue.

    Dear Mr. Janakiraman,

    Thank you for your feedback.

    1- Conditionally yes. I could install driver firstly. After that, emulator or software doesn't accept for reset function.

    2-  Could you clarify your request again please?

    3-  Our emulator is around 16 years old device.

    4- I couldn't face any password inside emulator.

    5- We tried different devices but it has no results.

    I couldn't face any error duing pin tests, checked software, updated drivers but it couldn't changed. OTIS error continues.

    Could you advise us to re-install all softwares in another PC?

    Could I find different emulator for programming TMS320LF2406A? In addition, XDS510 production has been finished by Spectrum Digital.

    Your advice will be very helpful for us.  Thank you.

    Sorry I don't understand your answer. Do you have a PC with CCS3.3 installed? If so, are you able to connect to the device using CCS3.3?

    Assuming you are able to connect to the device using CCS, are you able to load any code in RAM and execute it?

    I was not asking about the emulator. I was asking about the LF2406A device. Are these new devices that you are trying to program? Or are these older devices that you are trying to re-program?

    Sure you can try that.

    The only JTAG debug probes that will work with this device are XDS510PP+ and XDS510USB.

    True. Spectrum Digital has shut down.
