TMS320F28375D: Regarding the exact value of the VDD decoupling capacity

Part Number: TMS320F28375D

Hi experts,

I want to know the exact value of VDD decoupling capacity.

How do I estimate the exact value of the decoupling capacity to connect to VDD?

I would like to know how to use the yellow marker part described above.  "The exact value of the decoupling capacitance should be determined by your system voltage regulation solution"

Best regards,
Sasaki

  • Sasaki-San,

Using anything larger than approximately 20uf is approved and will support the F28375D device.

Sometimes power supply devices require "X" capacitance on their output to ensure stable operation, if that is the case it is OK to use a value larger than 20uF.

  • Hi Cody-san,

    Thank you for the information.

I would like to know a method for estimating the required capacitance value. Do you have any documentation?

    Best regards,
    Sasaki

  • Sasaki-San,

If the voltage regulation device has no output cap. requirements please use 20uF.

If the voltage regulation device supports an output cap. >=18uF use the value specified by the voltage regulation device's datasheet.

If the voltage regulation device suggests an output cap. <18uF then select a new voltage regulation device that supports a larger output cap.

I chose 18uF because the spec indicates "close to 20uF", there is some margin in this specification so 18uF or more would be OK.

    Cody

  • Hi Cody-san,

    Thank you for the information.

    I understand very well.
