TMS320F28379D: TMS320F28379D

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

I'm trying to design a PCB using the TMS320F2839D processor, and want to create an independant PCB for debugging/ Programming the processor. I am running into a issue where the FT2232H FTDI chip which is used for emulating is out of stock and has a long lead time. I was curious to see if there is a way to connect MicroUSB to be able to program the chip without having to use a outside debugger/ programming tool.

  • Hi Jonathan,

There is no way to directly connect the USB to the chip without the use of an external debugger. For proper debugging and programming, you would need to include a converter that converts the USB data to JTAG data that can be read by the TMS320F28379D device. It is unfortunate that the preferred FTDI chip is unavailable, are you able to find any similar alternatives which would serve the same functionality?

    Regards,

    Peter

  • I've been trying to look for one , so far not so much luck due to the semi conductor shortage so looks like I have to maybe find a external debugger unfortunately...
