TMS320F280049C: Forced Angle set start value

Part Number: TMS320F280049C

Hello

We want to speed up the start-up of a motor by giving forced angle a known start value. The rotor position is determined by HALL sensors but the update rate is too low to run the motor,

but the starting position is stable.

There is a function to set the angle of "Forced Angle" but it seems that then also the delta value is adjusted resulting in a very high frequency, instead of the 1 Hz.

Is it possible to speed up the startup in this way, or are there other options?

  • If you just want to speed up the startup, you may try to increase the speedaccerlation, gains of the speed PI controller. Changing force angle frequency is more useful to improve the startup stability with load, not speed up it.

  • Thanks for your reply.

Maybe I've asked the question wrong but we want to speed up the lock process so that we have maximum torque available immediately from standstill.

Because the rotor position is known, we want to set the magnetic field right for maximum torque.

We tried this by setting the estimator angle to the rotor position, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. So now we want to try it by setting the forced angle start position to the rotor position.

But if we change the Forced Angle also the delta value is changed resulting in a very high frequency.

  • It could be a challenge to start the motor with a heavy load immediately from standstill.  You may take a look at chapter 14 "Managing Full Load at Startup, Low-Speed and Speed Reversal" in InstaSPIN-FOC and InstaSPIN-MOTION User's Guide

As you mentioned above, you can set the initial rotor angle to the FAST estimator that will be used to force angle for start also.
