TMS320F28379D: Unable to load program in Flash on Custom Development Board.

Hi Abhay,

This could be related to voltage regulator on your custom board where it is not able to provide sufficient current while Flash programming operation. What is the current rating for the voltage regulator on your board?

Hi Nirav,

Thanks for replying back. We are using LM1085 series regulator. These regulators have current rating of 3A. PFB Schematic Screenshot. Input 15V is fed through a DC Power source with output current rating 2A.

Please let me know if you any waveforms or other information.

Hi Abhay,

How are the boot mode pins configured?  On a fresh device, using wait boot prevents the CPU from executing garbage from Flash/RAM (when there is no valid code in them).  Can you try wait-boot configuration if not already?

Boot mode pins are configured for Emulation Boot. I have tried wait-boot configuration as per your suggestion.

I had started the board in wait mode and then switched the pins to Emulation Boot (without power recycle / resetting).

I then connected CCS in RAM mode and tried Erasing the flash (Device was connected at that time). I have attached the error message screenshot for same. Also after performing these steps CCS is terminating after a minute or two.

I tried using UniFlash as well to erase the flash but even that is not helping.

Let the boot mode pins be in wait mode.  Power up the device and connect the debugger and try the flash operations.  No need to change to emulation boot.

Dear Vamsi,

I have been trying to go through the document and see if the solution works. Following are the observations.

1. Device does not connect when NOT in emulation mode.

2. Also, JTAG test fails (with only 83.33 success) when in Boot-Wait mode .

Also, I found this information in https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sprui77c/sprui77c.pdf?ts=1644325262874

Based on this information, the debug probe will not connect if the device is not in the emulation mode.

Hi Abhay,

Issue that you are facing seems to be board related. Maybe instantaneous current needed for Flash programming is not sufficiently sourced from the board LDO. Can you check the board power routing to make sure proper voltage goes to the pins?
