TMS320F28027: F28027 failed to program

Part Number: TMS320F28027
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hi team,

During recently production, my customer found some of their board are not able be programmed.

I've suggested them to do the following test:

1. VDDIO/VDDA/VDD scope monitor. The board power is provided with an external power supply. And the voltage is stable.

2. ABA Swap has been done. The problem goes with chip.

Could you kindly suggest what might be the problem? If ABA swap proves the problem follows the chip, any else follow up test shall we do?

1) CCS Connection

2) Uniflash Connection

3) Power supply & TDI/TDO waveform embedded in the xls file(Red word represents failed part. Green represents working part);

  • Hi Brian,

If the fail follows the chip, then it proves the goodness of the board/supply I hope.

How are the boot mode pins configured?  Are they set to wait boot or not?

    Thanks and regards,

    Vamsi

  • Hi Vamsi,

In production line, the device is set to flash boot (which is the case for almost all the customer I've seen).

Do we suggest them to try wait boot? This would require a board change. Most of the design would not allow to change boot mode during production, since this would add extra production procedures.

    Regards,

    Brian

  • Brian,

Error that you showed is not related to flash program tool since the connection itself if not established.  Hence, I will ask our system control/boot/emulation experts to take a look at this.

    Thanks and regards,
    Vamsi

  • Brian,

I am sorry for the long delay in my response, I had missed this post in my dashboard for some reason.  To follow on what Vamsi mentioned, would it be possible to try Wait Boot Mode on the failing devices, just to confirm if they can recover using this mode?  I understand this may not work for production, but it may help us in finding a path to get these to connect reliably.

    Best,

    Matthew
