TMS320F280025C: Universal Motor Lab doesn't work

Hi,

I'm testing the universal motor lab using below HW.

Target Board : LAUNCHXL-F280025C

Motor Booster Pack : DRV8353RS-EVM

Motor : Anaheim_BLY172S_24V.

DC Bus : 24V

I checked adcData.VdcBus_V, Offset_I_ad, Offset_v_sf and PWM frequency.

These values are similar to Figure 2-25.

So I run the LEVEL2, but motor doesn't spin.

In the Motor Control SDK Universal Project and Lab user guide, motorVars_M1.speedRef_Hz and motorVars_M1.speed_Hz show different speed.

When the motor spins normally, the two values should be similar.

But both my tests and documentation have different values.

The expression below was captured when I tested LEVEL 2.

The graph shows current of motorVars_M1.adcData.I_A.value[0]

The GPIO29 on LaunchXL-F280025C must be connected to the DRV8353 enable pin. So you need to set the S2 on LAUNCHXL-F280025C to (1:1) position, GPIO28&GPIO29 need to be routed to the BP header by setting SEL1 of S2 to 1 (Close to the USB emulator).

Hi,

I already saw the thread you linked.

And I set the SW to (1:1) position.

If the SW is not set properly, the flagEnableRunAndIdentify will not be 1.

I spent a lot of time on this configuration and completed LEVEL 1.

Check if there are any output signals on PWM pin of LaunchXL-F280025C and GHA/B/C and GLA/B/C on DRV8353RS-EVM. Also check if there is current on motor phase with a current probe.

Hi,

I checked output signals on PWM pin of LaunchXL-F280025C and GHA/B/C and GLA/B/C on DRV8353RS-EVM.

The PWM frequency of LaunchXL-F280025C is 15KHz as define.

Frequency of GHA/BC and GLA/B/C on DRV8353RS-EVM are also approximately 15kHz.

Voltage Level of GHA/B/C are approximately 24V and GLA/B/C are 8.2V.

I don't have current probe so I used the Data Log as below.

Tune the following parameters below according to the motor. Not all of the motor in user_mtr1.h are tested for all of the build levels.

#define USER_MOTOR1_FREQ_LOW_Hz (5.0f) // Hz
#define USER_MOTOR1_FREQ_HIGH_Hz (300.0f) // Hz
#define USER_MOTOR1_VOLT_MIN_V (5.0f) // Volt
#define USER_MOTOR1_VOLT_MAX_V (24.0f) // Volt

Or you can run the build level 3 and 4 if you are using the TI EVM kit and have follower the lab guide to set up the hardware.

Hi,

I thought that there is no need to tune the parameter because it is the motor and EVM supported in the example.

But when I ran the example of motorware with the same EVM and motor, the motor spined.

As you said, it needs to tune.

I will compare the MotorWare and Universal Lab.

Hi,

I changed parameter in user_mtr1.h as you suggested and tested.

But the motor still does not spin.

And I changed PWM frequency from 15KHz to 45KHz like the user.h in the DRV5353 motorware.

Make sure that you have fully follow the lab guide to set the switch on LauchXL-F28025C and connect the BoostXL-DRV8353, and select the correct build configurations. Please be noted that some pins can't be connected and need a jumper wires for connecting SPI_STE.

The example lab can run the motor you used in all of the build levels without any changes, and also a clean sinusoidal current waveform can be shown in graph tool with datalog. Just tested the lab to double confirm again.
