TMS320F280049C: Another marvelous update

Part Number: TMS320F280049C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

After lauch CCstudio 11 this morning, after clicking OK to updates, this is the result. CCstudio no longer starts and an error message appear.

This is not the first time it happened. And it seems there no way to remove the update.

As a result, ccstudio no longer starts, and i have to unistall it, and redo a new installation.

I m alaways scared when update popup came up from ccstudio!

  • Hello,

What host OS (and version) are you running? And what is the exact CCS version?

    Thanks

    ki

  • OS is Windows 11. CCS Version i don't know exactly, but, i think ccs version was first released C11 version.

This morning i reopened ccs after 2 months, and it asked me to update to latest version (11. something) after a long installation i saw on windows settings that there were 2 installed versions of ccstudio, and also in hard drive were 2 folders, one C:\ti\ccs1100 and the brand new C:\ti\ccs1110.

after this big uptade, i started ccs again, and this time popup suggested to install the segger j-link update, i trusted and ran into installation, and after a ccs reboot crash happened. I hope this help.

i aleady try to unistall ccs, all versions, but also uninstaller failed, and the older version can not be removed. I installed new version and now i m working whit that, after loosing half morning through these steps.

    CCS still bugged as hell.

    regards

  • Thanks for the details.

i aleady try to unistall ccs, all versions, but also uninstaller failed, and the older version can not be removed.

CCS is pretty self contained and it is adequate to simply delete the whole install folder. Honestly that is what the CCS installer mostly does - it deletes the files in the folder.

  • I tried running the update for my CCS 11.1 install. It found a few, including the SEGGER update. I selected them all and the update succeeded for all three (and I am able to use CCS still). I tried this on Windows 10. I will ask a colleague to try this on WIndows 11.

  • I don t care.

I m pretty sure i did nothing strange but simply running the update, as i said.

Actually i can work after a full reinstallation of ccs 11.1, so you can mark as solved for me, or simply delete this whole thread.

I simply find strange that after an update failure, there is nothing to do but uninstall everything and start from begin. There is no way to rollback, or a way to remove simply last failed update. That's it.

    Kind regards.

  • There is an option to roll back updates but it is not comprehensive (doesn't cover all updates) so it really isn't a great option

FYI: A colleague tried the update on WIndows 11 and it was successful. Not sure what happened in your environment. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. But keep us posted if it does.

    Thanks
