LAUNCHXL-F28069M: Lab01b - Motor not Running

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM, MOTORWARE

I am using a LAUNCHXL-F28069M with a BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM. I am trying to work through the InstaSPIN labs and am stuck at Lab01b. My motor is not running and I have no data showing up on the graphs. The LED is blinking, but i do not have any voltage to the motor.

Looking through other forum threads, I've manually input information about my motor: speed, voltage and current. Is it supposed to ask? What other reasons could result in the motor not running?

  • You may follow the lab and hardware guide to connect the kits and run the example lab, and please check if there is any PWM outputs on LAUNCHXL-F28069M with a BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM.

The InstaSPIN lab guide (instaspin_labs.pdf) in the folder of motorWare

  • Hi Yanming, that is the instaspin lab guide that I am using. I am following the lab and hardware guide and have tried to run the example lab. I don't know where to check for the PWM outputs. On GPIO pins 40-35 i am measuring 50 mV AC signal with a multimeter.

  • Connect the 24V DC power supply to the BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM. Refer to the user's guide of BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM and LAUNCHXL-F28069M to check the PWM output on the related GPIOs on the BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM using an oscilloscope.

The user's guide of BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM and LAUNCHXL-F28069M can be found on ti.com separately.

  • A better answer would have been to tell me which GPIO pins I should check. I've solved the issue on my own. I know my question was vague and the forum style of support makes troubleshooting for issues like mine difficult. Hopefully, if I reach out again, the support could be a little more helpful.
