TMS320F280025: Motor Control libraries in ROM

Part Number: TMS320F280025

Hi,

We are currently looking at using the TMS320F280025  and it looks like it will fit our need , one thing i need to get clarity on is that according to the datasheet page 10  the following comment is made

"(2) C devices include additional Motor Control libraries in ROM. Contact TI for more information"

Question that i have is the following ,

1. is this programmed in the flash  , and should it be included in code to be used or do you access the functions via some other means

2. if this is not part of the flash is it sitting in some other area , ie secure rom , and can it be over written by accident  when flashing?

regards

C

  • It's referring to the InstaSPIN FAST observer for sensorless FOC applications, although we actually only support the ROM version on F28004xC devices, not F280025 (I'll make a note to get that corrected in the F280025 datasheet). To answer your question in the context of F28004xC though, it's not in the regular flash and you don't need to worry about overwriting it. I believe it's in the Secure ROM specifically.

That said, for the F28002x devices there is a .lib version of of the FAST library that can be compiled into your executable and loaded to flash with the rest of your application (in other words, no special ROM required). This is available in the MotorControl SDK in addition to examples that demonstrate how to use it.
