TMS320F28335: Compatibility with SM320F28335GHHAEP

Hello There,

If we decide to use SM320F28335GHHAEP in place of TMS320F28335PTP, are we able to use the exact same firmware?

Also, any hardware design considerations? I understand the SM320F28335GHHAEP is a BGA package.

    Neil,

    You are correct, you can use the same FW(at the binary/.out level) across both devices. 

    The SM device is qualified to a superset of parameters vs the catalog version to meet the EP designation, but the MCU is the same across the two devices.

    As you mentioned, only difference would be the package going from a quad flat pack(leads) to ball grid array.
