C2000WARE: Support for gtkwave and MinGW

Part Number: C2000WARE

I cannot find instructions anywhere in the TI materials for installing gtkwave on Windows. In my case it is win11 but there are no instructions for either version.

There is a thread: e2e.ti.com/.../3182754
But the link in it has expired.

And there is a general manual: www.ti.com/.../spruir8a.pdf
But it talks about what to download: both gtkwave and MinGW, but no clear compilation instructions.

  • Hi,

Your query has been forwarded to an expert.

    Best Regards

  • The user guide https://www.ti.com/lit/spruir8 talks about how to install the tools. It is very straight forward. Everything else about their usage is embedded in the examples.

  • Sorry, I forgot to add that I reviewed this document as well. In section 2.2.2 we unpack gtkwave. And this is the end of the configuration procedure.

Then we go back to the tool in section 4.1.3. According to the instructions I have in the subfolder "simulation" the file "simulation_output.exe", which generates for me CLB.vcd. This file does not open automatically in GTKWave.

Finally, after a day of searching, I managed to get the file and the simulation working. This may be simple and obvious but I was missing information on how to run GTKWave. That you need to go to C:\gtkwave\bin\gtkwave.exe

  • Kacper,

Yes similar to other Windows programs, you do "OPEN WITH" on the VCD and then click on the gtkwave.exe.

Thank you for posting this incase others run into the same issue.
