TMS320F28062: gm / gmcrit specification

Hi All,

We’re looking into alternatives for a crystal to use with the TMS320F28062FPNT. Originally we had selected the Epson Q22FA23800001xx crystal here, but due to low availability we’re considering the Abracon ABM8AIG-20.000MHZ-12-2Z-T3 and the ECS-200-12-33Q-JES from ECS.

We want to check if the oscillation transconductance is within the specification of the microcontroller. I was trying to calculate whether the new crystal chosen for the TMS320 was suitable, but unfortunately I can’t find the gm or gmcrit data in the datasheet/technical reference manual. Do you have these specifications available?

    Alen,

       We do not spec Transconductance in the datasheet. We only spec the ESR, Rd and load cap values. Our new datasheets have helpful information on how to choose a crystal. Take a look at page 92 of www.ti.com/lit/sprsp61. Admittedly, this device is made with a different process technology and also employs different pin muxing. However, the crystal oscillator theory and parameters to evaluate for choosing the right crystal also applies to older devices.
