TMS320F28379D: Difference/Compatible issue between CCS9.1.0.00010 and CCS11.1.0.00011

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Hi,

My customer use CCS 9.1.0.00010 as development environment.

Due to company limitation, I can't install CCS 9.1.0.00010 to my company's computer.

So, I installed CCS 11.1.0.00011 on my company's computer.

My customer use:

Development environment - CCS 9.1.0.00010

Compiler - ti-cgt-c2000_18.12.2.LTS

Debugger - XDS100v2 / XDS100v3

Device - TMS320F28379D

Is there limitation or compatible issue between there two CCS version?

For example: What function or tool supports for CCS 9.1.0.00010, but not for CCS 11.1.0.00011?

What issue may occurs when using CCS 11.1.0.00011 for CCS 9.1.00010 project?

Looking forward to your detail reply.

Thanks

Zhiyang

  • Hello,

This is a tricky question to answer. CCS9 vs CCS11 has a major version number difference of 2. That is fairly substantial. CCS11 also comes with newer version of the compiler. However this is not an issue since you can use older version of the compiler with newer CCS versions.

From a functionality standpoint, you can import your CCS9 projects to CCS11 and they should work. You can install and use CGT C2000 18.12.2 with CCS11 to be safe. For your device and debug probe, there should not be any functionality you would lose from a debug standpoint by going to CCS11.

    I would encourage using CCS11.

    Thanks
