TMS320F28388D: Secure Boot time

Part Number: TMS320F28388D

Per related documentation (Secure BOOT on C2000 Device, SPRACT3 – SEPTEMBER 2020) is the additional time taken to authenticate first 16KB of flash boot code for CPU1 about 400 ms (Running on INTOSC at 10 MHz).

Is there any option to significantly reduce the 400ms of the secure boot time? For example by increasing the clock to 200MHz, so we could get close to 20ms?

  • Hi Marek Knoth1,

My apologies for a late response as I was on a Time bank. The option you are looking for isn't possible on CPU1 on TMS320F28388D. Perhaps you could consider performing secure boot on CPU2/CM as the speeds are controlled from the CPU1 application code itself and hence can run on PLL (higher speeds). I am not aware about your end goal, but you can check out our recent device TMS320F28003x which has the HW AES accelerator built in on C28.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks & Regards

    Pramod
