TMS320F28388D: Reset EtherCAT IP and PHY at runtime

Hi champs,

My customer wants to know is it possible CPU1 issues command to reset EtherCAT IP and external PHYs at runtime?

I suggest he sets bit CPU_RESET_EN in register ESCSS_RESET_DEST_CONFIG, and uses SOFTPRES23 to do soft reset driving EtherCAT IP and PHY reset, is this correct way or there is any other ways to do this?

Hi Luke,

Is EtherCAT allocated to CPU1 or CM core in customer's case? Also customer intends to use ESC_PHY_RESETn signal from F2838x device for resetting the PHYs, correct? I've answered a similar question in the past below on ESC reset sources.

I believe the above is the correct and only way if wanting CPU1 to reset ESCSS and PHYs.
