I would like to add more details about this code. Following is the memory map of the two programs once they have been flashed.

When blinky is flashed, code start of the flash kernel is deleted when sector 0 of the flash is erased. So, I have added code to blinky to reconstruct that when it is flashed.

What baud rate are you using when echoing characters back vs when using the flash kernel to write in an image? The baud rate when echoing characters is likely too low.

The baud rate in the blinky is set to 9600. Since initialization of that program is executed when execution jumps to it, I assume PLL is configured properly as well.

Hi Anu,

The SCI code in blinky is based on that. I can use the debugger to flash blinky and run it using the debugger. The SCI works like that. I will zip up the two projects and send them to you. You may have to change the include files locations etc. I use the serial_flash_programmer with a small modification to prevent it from sending the flash kernel. Please give me a few minutes to send these stuff.

Attached zip file contains the two delfino projects and the PC project. All of them are based on TI code. I just copied my directories. I did not export the projects. Password for each file is "abc123".4276.blinky_far.zip3755.F2837xD_sci_flash_kernels_final.zip

Are these shared folders? If so, can you send them some other way such that I am not trying to access a shared folder?

Hi Anu,

Did you use the password, "abc123" - without quotes? I put a password since my pc may not allow outgoing files.

I can reproduce the blinky example behavior using the debugger, but I cannot reproduce flashing the blinky example via the flash kernel - when I try to enter SCI_GetFunction, I am getting stuck in the Illegal ISR Trap function. Have you seen this behavior before?

I have seen this if the linker command file puts the code in RAM. Otherwise, I haven not had that issue.

I am using the same linker command file that you used for the flash kernel, so I do not think this is the case. I am not sure to what extent the flash kernel has been modified in your project, but I tried to see if the application itself may be causing issues by using the most recently released flash kernels, but it looks like the way the code start functions for both projects have been positioned does not allow this since the flash kernels do not start writing at addresses that are not 128 bit aligned.

Since the difference in the blinky project behavior is when the flash kernel writes it into Flash, I would encourage you to look at if the blinky application is being written in correctly to Flash. You can write the flash kernel into Flash via CCS and look at the flash locations the blinky project goes in and see if the project is written the same way compared to when the blinky project is written in via CCS.

Hi Anu,

Can you please open this ticket again. The problem is solved to some extent, but there is still some issue. 

The issue is this: After the blinky is flashed via SCI, execution jumps to blinky. Still it does not echo the characters received via SCI properly. 

However, if I press the reset button, then blinky will echo the characters properly. Something is not set properly when execution jumps into blinky from the flash kernel. 

I have attached the modified files. Although flash kernel itself dos not have to be at 128 bit boundaries, I made that so just in case. I suspect some PLL issue. To find what could be going on I tried to connect to the target without disturbing it, and I was never able to do that.serial_flash_programmer_Ver2.zipF2837xD_sci_flash_kernels_final_Ver2.zipblinky_far_Ver2.zip

In order to make sure that the flash kernel itself is not causing issues, I would recommend updating to the version in the most recent C2000Ware release (4.01.00.00). For PLL issues, I will ask the PLL expert to comment.

I found that the reason why the SCI was sending garbage was due to the issue discussed in the following thread.
