 How to find Initial angel for resolver or encoder for Sensored PMAC motor.

    To obtain the initial position of a permanent magnet motor, you can normally lock the rotor to the zero angle position by apply DC current in from A phase and out from B and C phase connected together. Then you can record your angle sensor reading at this location. Number of stable location should be equal to number of pole pair of the motor.

    Be aware, for incremental sensor like encoder, you will need to first get the initial position of the encoder from index signal.

    The tmdxiddk379d solution in C2000 motor control SDK has an example implementation in level3 build. You can find this example at link below after install the SDK.

    This example is driving the lock-rotor current through closed loop current control. Thanks.
