TMS320F28379D: DCAHTRIPSEL not accessible from Simulink (DCxxTRIPSEL registers)

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Hi, in an application, ePWM module needs to trip due to 4 analog CMPSS inputs.

Therefore we want to use the Or-ed trip input.

However, I do not find where to configure the DCxxTRIPSEL registers in Simulink and Simulink gives an 'Model Error' when trying to Build this option of the ePWM module.

Is it actually supported ?.

A workaround is to use the X-Bar to route 4 CMPSS outputs to GPIOs , and then assign those GPIOs to TZ1_not .... TZ4_not .
But this makes bad use of 4 pins and its not elegant.

  • Hi,

We need help from MathWork engineer on this. The subject matter expert is out of office today and tomorrow, returning back to office on Monday. Please expect response by Monday.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi,

You are right, currently for F28379D processors ‘DCAHTRIPSEL’, ‘DCBHTRIPSEL’, ‘DCALTRIPSEL’ and ‘DCBLTRIPSEL’ are not supported.

However, as an alternative you need not send them to GPIO and get these signals via TZ1-3. You can make use of ePWM X-BAR.

In ePWM X-BAR, you can choose multiple CMPSS signals through different MUX selections.

From MATLAB release R2021a onwards ePWM X-BAR configuration is present under Hardware Implementation > Target hardware resources > ePWM

We can choose multiple MUX signals by choosing different Mux select option as shown below

The selected MUX signals are shown in ‘TRIP 4 (Mux 0 -> 31)’ parameter as highlighted in red below

You can then choose TRIPIN4 as your source for DCTRIPSEL.

I have chosen TRIP 4 as an example here but you can choose any TRIP signal coming from ePWM X-BAR. Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Irene
