Gui composer

I check from ccs memory browser, 0x20A0 is the variable location that object is attached to it. Can anyone help on this?

I use MSP430FR2335 EVM and  load sample OOB demo into target board from code CCS. However, it seems connected to target board but not getting any data. attach a screen shot here and let me know if i miss anything. Thanks

You can refer to the user's guide . Have you downloaded the OOB code to FR2355 launchpad? You can find the OOB code in the below link

1: I can download the image to my target board. (I attach first image below  for it is successfully download)

2: After that, it seems to wait for data and looks like nothing happen . (show in the lower left corner of the window)

How can make the data to be collect into GC?

Is there anything that i miss here?

It is in the status of waiting for data.......

Do you select the correct baud rate and COM port? Try 9600 and when after success flash, reset the device. 

If the serials port is set correct it should be hardware connected.

Even I change the Baud rate to 9600, it will switch back after i close the dialogue box.

I also go to device manager to change baud rate to 9600, it will always get back to 115200.

I can see it display hardware connected. but it is as far as i can go from beginning.

after reboot, i am able to set it to baud rate 9600. I did not see " waiting for data ". but it looks like still no data to me.

I happen to see some 404 error on the console. Does this impact my test?

I can download image to my target board on both MSP430FR2155 and MSP430FR2355 using GUI COMPOSER app.

However, if I add led status from   https://dev.ti.com/gc/v2/help/GC_UserGuide_v2/xds.html

It fail when accessing led_status in target board app.

Is there anything that need to run on the target board program to make XDS protocol communicate between GC app and target board app?

I test with both USB and XDS connection and all have the same issue. (both can connect and download image)

I am also not able  to see data from  msp430fr2355 EVM with the sample OOB demo GUI COMPOSER app.

II can do download from the app menu item to the target board. but I did not see data in the graph.

The software and hardware are all from TI.

Hi Ming,

 From your screenshot, hardware are not connected. Please use USB-UART communication protocol.  Do not use XDS for 430 device. You may  need to read the relevant content in the User guide carefully.

HI Allen,

I use USB-UART for msp430fr2115 and the hardware do connect when i do test from dialogue box.

It get an error when i do a run command.

it says "communication with target failed, no response"

I can use CCS  to access data and it works ok but not in GC.

I test with msp430fr2355evm with modified source.

And it give log information when trying to read that variable at 0x2416.

Anything that we can do to allow memory access that memory location?

(This is also the very first question that i post at the beginning of this thread if we scroll to the top.)

I just attach another log information. 

Looks like that target is connected, but it did not response for the variable due to timeout.

This is for msp430fr2355 EVM. Do you think anyone else can help on this issue?

Hi Ming,

What is your code of the target device? The component value should be the same in your target code to success communication. I suggest you to open an housekeeping project (With GUI) or an OOB project in CCS and based on that code to modify your custom GC project.

0x2416 is the variable "led" memory location

0x2416 is the address in RAM of 2355. What is the setting of your LED button in GC? To read the variable in device need to follow the communication protocol. I'm not familiar with the OOB project communication protocol jsmn.  There is no information about the jsmn format in GC user's guide.

Our housekeeping has a lot of GUI projects using JSON format, if you use this format, there will be more references. Here is the 2355 GUI JSON format project link. Based on these example project it may easier for you to custom your GUI dashboard.

The software and hardware is all from TI without any changes.

One thing i find out that the data that send from GUI to MSP430 are not in the correct ASCII format.

I send a "led" command to MSP430 but in the receive function it get to wrong character.

MSP430 isr routine rxString  get "0x16"  for every command that i send from GUI.

And consequently GUI get time out because msp430 did not know how to response.

My baud rate is "115200" for it to connect to the msp430.

(I can't connect to it if rate is 9600)

And the sample code in main.c init_EUSCI() function  looks like it use baud rate 115200 too.

You would like to use FR2355 to blink LED in GUI? And send some data to GUI? Right?
