Piccolo F2806x controlSTICK

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

HELP!! I can't get anything to work: The Crosshairs GUI won't work, I cant even get Controlsuite to work so that I can download sample programs, it fails to open a web page at http://software-dl.ti.com/c2000/c2000_apps_public_sw/devoce5_2.cab I tried typing this in and the page doesn't exist. Can anyone help and tell me where I can get sample programs to try out, I am mailny interested in usng the comparators, before I assign this heap of S***t to the bin?

Thanks.

  • Did you follow the setup in the quickstart guide on the CD?.  Also when you say controlsuite doesnt work do you mean it doesnt install or was a link you tried to access broken?

If you were able to install controlSUITE with all the options, all the example projects will be under C:\TI\controlSUITE\development_kits\F28069 controlSTICK and you can import them into CCS4 directly.

  • Hi,

The link is broken, I have since been told by the TI help desk that there is some maintenance being done to the web site and to try again tomorrow, it is a shame that you can't access sample programs without controlSUITE or that they aren't available on the CD.

I have only 3 days left on my CCSv4 licence, is there anyway to extend this by a few days? Will the sample programs run with the 14K limitation once the licence expires?

    Thanks

    Bushan

  • 14K should be sufficient for most of the examples. Ive attached the example projects and required header files. I had to exclude the GUI becuase it was too big for the attachment. All the examples can be imported directly from CCS4. Ive embedded the path for the folders in the zip itself so once you download the zip file right click and extract to the C drive. Dont open it up with winzip it will show up as a 0byte file.

    2474.F28069_controlSTICK_Headers_and_Code_05_11_11.zip

    Hope this helps

  • Hi Vishal,

Thanks for sending the link to the zip. I downloaded it but couldn't extract it properly. Which program did you use to compress the files? Right clicking on the .zip gives me the option of using 7ZIP to extract the files, using 7ZIP extracts the files of 0bytes length. I can't even view the compressed files (.doc or .pdf) I get a windows Compressed Folders error. I am using WIN7 operating system .. if that has any relevance.

I am particularly interested in using the comparators, so a project template with code for the comparators and DAC would be sufficient, I will write the code for anything else I need. If you could send me the project showing the use of the comparators and the schematic for the controlSTICK that would be great.

I still can't get controlSUITE to install. The installation tries to access http://software.dl.ti.com/C2000/C2000_aps_public_sw/device5_2.cab and fails to open the page. The installation process stops and rolls back. Is this a bug?

  • Bushan,

Ive attached the comparator examples and the header files.

    1263.F2806x_Headers_v100_05_12_11.zip

    6165.F28069_Comparator_Examples_05_12_11.zip

These should extract. If not Ill setup an ftp. One thing to note is that most projects within controlSUITE use relative paths to find the header files. Each project has a macros.ini file that tells CCS how to find the header files. If you plan on putting these projects in you own folder be sure to edit macros.ini and put the absolute path of the header files in there.

    e.g. INSTALLROOT_F2806x_V100 = C:\TI\controlSUITE\device_support\f2806x\v100 or wherever you extract v100 to!

Im not sure what the deal is with the installer. I usually get it from this link:

    http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/controlsuite.html

Please let me know if this works. If not Ill forward a request to fix to the appropriate people

  • I just noticed there is a zip file for controlsuite on the link I sent you. It should unzip the entire package to your root dir

  • Hello Vishal,

You must be so fed up of me by now!!!

I still can't extract the file so please set up an FTP.

controlSUITE still doesn't install and falls over at the same point.

    Bushan.

  • Not a problem. Ive set up an account on mediafire and uploaded the files there. I used 7zip this time.

  • Guys - I just downloaded the files and unzipped without an issue. Bushan - I guess you may try again. It looks like a regular ZIP archive, and I unzipped it with "Total Commander" (A "swiss army knife" kind of software).

    Anyway: I have another question:
Where do I find schematic and pin-out for the ControlStick F28069? No documents on TI web which would be relevant and I didn't want to strat installing blindly the stuff from attached CD. Worried about messing-up my existing and running CCS set-up.

    Thanks,

    Martin

  • Martin,

Pinout for the device is on the datasheet:

    http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tms320f28069.pdf

Schematic for the control stick is in ControlSuite (link from below ControlStick site):

    http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/tmdx28069usb.html

If you can't get it to install holla and someone can attach the schematic on here.

    Tim

  • Thanks Tim!

I wasn't asking for the DEVICE pinout but for the ControlStick schematic (pinout). The second link provided the answer. Sort of:
I teribly hate the approach which forces me to "install" stuff in order to gain access to a PDF file. But this is always like that with TI so I run the install on a sandbox machine and then pick up what I want and transfer on my development machine :-) I got what I needed.

    Thanks for your help!
    Martin

  • Hi Vishal,

Thank you very much and all the others who replied to my call for help. Job done and successfully completed. Thanks again.
