For better EMC performance consideration!

Customer want to know the thermal pad can connect to VSS or not?

    See this note from the datasheet. Will it help with EMC performance? No, very likely not since this is not electrically connected to the die's VSS. Connecting the PowerPAD to ground will not degrade EMC performance, there may be some marginal improvement by grounding the PowerPAD because its closer to the die than the ground plane of the PCB. But this will not be anything significant.
