Hello.

I want to Firmware updates all cores(CPU1, CPU2, CM) by USB

In this case, Which core should I use for updating the firmware??

Actually I intend to use usb_ex7_host_msc.c. And I also find there is usb_ex7_host_msc_cm.c

From these programs, I guess I can use only CPU1 or CM cores.

Is it possible for CPU1 and CM core to update the firmware of all cores??

Hi,

Any particular reason for using USB to do the firmware update? Can we do it using another peripheral?

Currently there is no usb kernel code for F2838x, you will have to refer to the F2837xD_usb_flash_kernels example code in C2000Ware and port it for F2838x.

Also, for CM, you need to send the data from CPU1 using IPC to the RAM of CM and then run this code

Then, I will read the link you send me and serial flash programmer.

To sum up, CPU1 can firmware update CPU2 (by your link) and CM(using IPC to the RAM of CM).

Is it right???

Hi,

Yes, CM core cannot do firmware update for CPU1 and CPU2.

CM Flash API and CM flash image should be streamed via CPU1 and loaded to shared RAM so that CM can take access it and use it to program it's application image in its Flash bank

Hi,

CPU1 is the master on this device. It owns all the configuration and control. CPU2 only boots once configured and released from reset by CPU1.

Hence you can use CPU1 to do the firmware updates for CPU2 and CM
