TMS320F280023: Incremental Encoder Connection

Hi there,

I would like to use MAX3098E IC with TMS320F280023 MCU. We're using OUTZ pin as a index pin. Should I connect the OUTZ pin to the MCU timer or should I connect it as a normal I/O pin ?

I'm assuming you will be using the eQEP module on the MCU. The Index pin should be connected to eQEP-I pin on the MCU.

I'm not using eQEP module, can I connect it normal I/O pin ?

It depends on how you want to use the pin. How are you implementing the incremental decode? How do you plan to use the pin if not using the eQEP module?
