TMS320F280049C: And different ADC modules(ADCA, ADCB and ....) require synchronization?

Part Number: TMS320F280049C

Hi Experts,

I am asking for my customer.

And different ADC modules(ADCA, ADCB and ....) require synchronization.

Q1: What will be the impact of non-synchronization? Like the Trigger Overflow.

Q2: Is there detailed comparison data between synchronization and non-synchronization? From the practical application case, thanks~

  • Hi Shaoxing,

Q1: What will be the impact of non-synchronization? Like the Trigger Overflow.

Simultaneous conversion on more than one ADC with different trigger period and S+H will cause interference between the ADC modules resulting in degraded performance.  When more than one ADC is converting at the same time, ensure that the trigger period and S+H times are maintained for all the ADC as illustrated below:

Q2: Is there detailed comparison data between synchronization and non-synchronization? From the practical application case, thanks~

Refer to the ADC section in the Datasheet.  The DC spec ADC-to-ADC Isolation (effect of ADC to the other ADC during simultaneous conversion) will be less than +/-1LSB during synchronous conversion.  With asynchronous conversion, it will be > +/-1LSB.  In the AC spec, ENOB is severely impacted with asynchronous conversion, hence not specified.  With synchronous conversion, typical ENOB is around 11LSB.

    Regards,

    Joseph

  • Hi Joseph,

Yes, they want to know the specific data like the how much than the  > +/-1LSB, or more than 11LSB with asynchronous conversion. Thanks~

Do we have these similar data? Because customer want to use the asynchronous conversion, they don't know exactly how much LSB is lowered for this.
