C2000WARE-DIGITALPOWER-SDK: Can't import project from DigitalPower SDK

Part Number: C2000WARE-DIGITALPOWER-SDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: POWERSUITE, TIDM-1000, C2000WARE,

Hello,

I am following the design guide for the TIDM-1000. It says to install the DigitalPower SDK. I did that. It says that on re-launch of CCS, "CCS will automatically detect powerSUITE".

(1) How do I know if CCS actually detected powerSUITE? I can't find anything that explains how I know if CCS actually detected it.

It then says to open the Resource Explorer and navigate to the relevant project for the TIDM-1000. So in this case it is under Software->C2000Ware_DigitalPower_SDK->Example Project->F2837x. Great found it. But the design guide says to click "Run <device> Project".

(2) I don't see that anywhere. Where do I find "Run <device> Project"?

Then I tried to click "Import F28379D Project". I get a message saying Cannot Import Project because the package needs to be install locally. I assume that the "package" is the DigitalPower SDK. But I already did that! So I assume that I installed the SDK to the wrong location and CCS can't find it.

(3) What folder path should the DigitalPower SDK be installed so that CCS can see it?

Good news! It asks "Would you like to install it now"? I click Install. It says that it will be installed in the background. And that progress can be viewed using the "task view, accessible from the toolbar".

(4) What is the task view? What toolbar?

I suspect that it is not actually installing the background but I can't be sure because I can't find this task view.

Please help!

Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Were you able to import the project via the Resource Explorer (TIREX)? Can you confirm the version of C2000Ware-DigitalPower-SDK you are attempting to install.

You are correct that CCS looks for the package to be installed in your local drive under the ti or ti/c2000 folders (e.g C:\ti\c2000). If it is installed in a different directory, CCS won't be able to detect that directory unless you up date the search directories to include that local directory.

You should be able to view the downloading status in the tool bar if you click the clock icon located at the top on the same row as the Resource Explorer Label.

It should be noted that powerSUITE no longer needs to be installed as a local product. It appears that the instructions in that user's guide are not up-to-date. I'll copy the owner for that design to confirm the accuracy of the described steps.

Instead of clicking "Run" once you navigate to the specific project within TIREX, you should see the "Import" button appear on the left-hand side of the window. This will import the project in CCS and launch the GUI page.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Ozino

  • Hi Ozino,

I installed DigitalPowerSDK Version 4.00.00.00. It installed to c:\ti\c2000. So I think that I install a sufficiently-current version of the SDK. And based on you note about install location, it would seem that it installed to the correct location. But for whatever reason, it still seems like CCS can't "see" the DigitalSDK (because the TIREX fails to import anything).

Is there a way to determine if CCS can "see" the DigitalPowerSDK?

No, I was not able to import the project via the Resource Explorer. That was my main problem. It kept asking to "install the package" which didn't seem to work. Eventually, I just imported the project manually by clicking "Project->Import CCS Projects". I think that I selected the right project.

"Instead of clicking "Run" once you navigate to the specific project within TIREX, you should see the "Import" button appear on the left-hand side of the window. This will import the project in CCS and launch the GUI page." <== Yeah, nope. I did see the Import button, but when I click that it wants to "install the package".

In summary, I have not been to get TIREX to import anything and I cannot figure out if CCS can "see" the DigitalSDK.

    Thank you.

  • Kevin,

Sounds like for some reason your CCS version is not recognizing the default paths. Can you double check what directories are listed under the 'Product directory path'. It is located in Windows -> Preferences -> Code Composer Studio -> Products.
