TMS320F2806: HRCAP and eCAP

Part Number: TMS320F2806

Hi Team,

What is the difference in HRCAP in normal mode and eCAP in F2806x?

Also in the data sheet, HRCAP switching characterstics says that, minimum input width needed is 58.33ns. Does this mean any signal with smaller pulse width will be ignored?

Where does the resolution 300 ps come into picture?

Regards,

Irene

  • Hi,

I am checking with eCAP/HRCAP expert. I will get back by tomorrow.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi,

The HRCAP in normal mode is the same as ECAP with the only difference being the min pulse for HRCAP even in normal mode is longer. On the 2nd question, that is correct. Any signal shorter than the min pulse width requirement will not be captured. The 300ps resolution is the step size of the HRCAP in high res mode. So rather than 1sysclk step size, it’s 300ps step size.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Santosh
