TMS320F280025C: convert project targeting 80 pin to 64 pin

Thanks for reaching out on the E2E forums. To better help assist you, what tools are you using in your project currently? Are you using a SysConfig-based project or is your project purely DriverLib? There is typically not a lot that needs to be converted over since you are migrating within the same family. You will need to make sure that you are not using any pins that aren't available in the 64-pin package, although our SysConfig tool will automatically check for this.

Thanks a lot for your quick response! I am using CCS 11.0. My project is purely DriverLib, but can be converted to SysConfig-based if needed. Currently, all the pins used are available in the 64-pin package. In this case, it seems a .out generated for 80-pin package  can also be used for 64-pin package, but could you help to confirm?

In general, if somebody wants to convert his project targetting 80-pin package to 64-pin package , is there an app note/guidance on what he needs to do specifically?

Thanks for the info. For your projects, we highly recommend using SysConfig for your device configuration as there are a lot of automations built in that may help detect potential conflicts or errors in your code. For the .out file, it's highly recommended to rebuild your project for the 64-pin package, particularly if there are differences in memory size. We do have migration guides (https://ti.com/lit/sprack2) between device families, which may be of help, but there is no such document for devices within the same family.

We are planning to release a step-by-step migration video in the very near future which goes over how to migrate devices using SysConfig. Is there any memory size difference between 280025 80-pin & 64-pin package? If there is such difference, is it mentioned in any 280025 documentation? If there is no such difference, does it mean we can directly use .out generated for 80-pin package to configure 64-pin chips?

Hi Quentin,

Any flash size differences would be mentioned in the TMS320F28002x datasheet. Since you are you using the same TMS320F280025C device, you should be able to use the same .out since the memory size is the same between both pin packages.
