C2808 Power Dissipation Question

Hi,

I have a customer using a 2808 in his application and he is seeing a package temp at 53 Deg C with an ambient of 25 Deg C.

A bit of info:

Clocking at 100MHz

Using ADC 50KHz acrros 4 channels

, PWM and serial ports. He also has a small display attached.
Doesn't this sound quite high for the temp? or is it within normal expectations?
Thanks,
Cliff
  • See Section 6.4 and Section 9 of the datasheet.  These detail current consumption measurements and thermal data on the packages.

These temperature numbers look ok but it depends on the package.  For a C2808 TQFP then your temperature rise relates to a power output of roughly 400mW.  According to the current consumption a C2808 at all guns blazing does about 700mW so with what you said is being done seems appropriate.
