TMS320F28377D: Upgrading processor

Part Number: TMS320F28377D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F28379D, TMS320F28069, TMS320F28377S

Hi,

I am in the process of an upgrade of HVAC and Environmental Controller with Power Analysis Features from TMS320F28069 to a dualcore system such as F28377D or 79D with external ram support. I have familiarized myself with the Launchxl-F28379D and so far all seems good. I have partitioned the code that each core will run with IPC tested.

The hardware design of a custom board is mostly done. One with 337BGA package and one with 176 LQFP package. The CAD work is in final stages.

My question here is that considering chip shortage and unavailability of the dscs and this controller, what timelines are we looking at for availability on digikey etc. Which package should be a preference based on availability.

In fact I wanted to use F2838x series to have ethernet but that series is not available not even the launchpad. So i had to change the design and put an external ether controller chip.

please comment. Are there any alternates. What timelines are we looking at. I need TI's advise on a way forward on which controller to chose to ensure maximum availability.

Regards

Jawwad
