TMS320F28069: Docking station for F28069 100 pin DIMM Control Card

Part Number: TMS320F28069
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHSECDOCK

Hi,

We have F28069 Control Card which is 100 pin DIMM, and ideally has to be connected to a 100 pin DIMM docking station.

But the 100 pin DIMM connector has gone obsolete.

Looking at the latest evaluation kit for F28069,

TI has provided TMDSHSECDOCK - HSEC180 control CARD Baseboard Docking Station which is a 180 pin (120 + 60) HSEC connector.

Please help me understand how the F28069 Control Card can be connected to TMDSHSECDOCK which has 120 pin HSEC connector.

Do we need to use an adapter or will the Control Card fit in the 120 pin HSEC connector present on the TMDSHSECDOCK docking station?

Kind Regards,

Snehal

  • Snehal,

There is no adapter for DIMM based controlCARDs like TMDSCNCD28069M to the HSEC 120/180 format.

You can still order TMDSDOCK28069M if desired, this comes with a DIMM style dock and a controlCARD. https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSDOCK28069

The DIMM dock is not sold separately.

    Cody

  • Hi Cody,

    Thank you for the response.

We have two control cards, F28069 and F28035, both are 100 pin DIMM based Control Cards.

We are planning to design a board similar to the docking station, for evaluation of these Control Cards.

So, if the 100 pin DIMM connector has gone obsolete, and we cannot use the HSEC connectors for the DIMM connection, could you please suggest how we could connect the DIMM based control cards to our designed docking station board?

  • Snehal,

Its simply tough to get a few units, as all manufactures have deprecated these connectors.

I have had luck finding china-based suppliers willing to make these in large quantities in the past.

Honestly if you're starting a new design then i wouldn't recommend you to use F28069 or F28035, they are great parts, and are still technically relevant especially when compared to our competitors. But F280049, F280039, F280025 families are at a similar price point and offer more, and more modern, features.

All mentioned parts have EVMs which are now in our HSEC format, and will be supported for a long time going forwards. If you have a question of backwards code compatibility, we have put a massive amount of design effort into making porting forwards to new designs easy.

    Regards,
    Cody
