I am a Senior Product Development Engineer at Caframo working on Motor Control PCB Redesign using an alternate motor driver for the control of Sensorless Brushless DC Motor used on our Stirrer products. In fact I have redesigned a PCB with Renesas Motor Driver chip, RAA2270634, in place of DRV8305 TI Motor Driver Chip which is running short in the market. We need help towards changes required in firmware employing TI's InstaSPIN FOC motor control. Datasheets of the Renesas Motor Driver chip, RAA2270634, and TI Motor Driver chip, DRV8305 for your perusal and reference

Which C2000 MCU are you using on this board? And which example lab are you implementing for your application? InstaSPIN-FOC only supports C2000 controller, you can follow the related documentation to change the PWM, ADC, and GPIO configuration codes if you just want to replace the gate driver.

Hi Yanming,

1. C2000 MCU: TMS320F28027F

2. Example lab: solutions/instaspin_foc/src/proj_lab03b.c

We are replacing only gate driver.

Please be specific regarding changing PWM, ADC and GPIO configuration codes, as I already did some changes but did not work. Specific highlighting on the related document can help.

Please follow the steps to change the example labs and verify the current and voltage signals of the hardware board before run the example labs. Make sure that the current and voltage sampling works well.

1. Change the PWM, ADC and GPIO configuration codes in hal.c refer to the guide, motorware_hal_tutorial.pdf.

2. Set correct parameters based on the hardware board in user.h

3. make sure that the sign of the current coefficient in HAL_readAdcData() in hal.h matches the current sensing circuit. Refer to chapter 5.2.2 Current Feedback Polarity in InstaSPIN user's guide (SPRUHJ1, https://www.ti.com/lit/spruhj1) to set the sign of the current scale factor.

Sorry. It's difficult to provide the specific codes as you want on this E2E forum. You may follow the guide to change the example code by yourself, or you can use a DRV device as the example lab. You can try to run the lab01, lab01b and lab01c first to know if the issue is from the GPIO, PWM, ADC or the other peripherals needed by the driver.

Seems like the the motorware_hal_tutorial.pdf is the best guide for porting the example lab. You may try to use the lab01/lab01b/lab01c to verify if the migration is correct first.

Please modify the target configuration file (.ccxml) according to the JTAG debugger you used.

Please follow motorware_hal_tutorial.pdf and the lab user's guide to check if the PWM outputs are correct to the power gate driver or FET when you run the lab01b.
