TMS320F28335: C2000ware

Part Number: TMS320F28335
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: POWERSUITE, C2000WARE, C2000WARE-DIGITALPOWER-SDK, TIDM-1007, TIDM-DC-DC-BUCK, SFRA, CONTROLSUITE

Hi,

i am trying to start a digital PFC (totem pole bridgeless) using the TMS320F28335, i have the Nexperia NXTTP4000W066 development board.

i am trying to get the solution adapter then the FRA and so on, i thought this was going to be easy, the powersuite has been discontinued instead the C2000Ware is what is needed but in the true style of Texas instrument, all training videos were made during the Powersuite time, difficult to follow and still get the C2000Ware to function.

can anyone help me to cut through the complications and the mess.

  1. what do i need to install ?.
  2. how do i start to use this to design my PFC ?.
  3. is there any relevant training page/Videos ?.
  4. is there a TI totem pole Gan based C2000Ware file i can load up and learn from it ?.

any help would be appreciated, just a suggestion to TI if i may, most of us are analogue hardware engineer and i would guess the reason why digital power isn't widely used is because the need to code and use a firmware engineer, most power supply company don't have that luxury, it would be good if TI kept that in mind and simplified the use of digital power design, the firmware part anyway, i can handle the analogue.

Kind regards.

Alex.

  • Hi Alex,

I will recommend checking out and downloading the C2000Ware-DigitalPower-SDK. It provides a list of all our latest and greatest DigitalPower C2000 based solutions. Here's a link to all the development kits supported: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=AInDGj6N1T811sIw4YnEoQ__5C6SEVO__LATEST

For your use case, I will recommend you check out the variety of different Totem Pole PFC solutions on offer, paying particular interest to the  TIDM-02008/TIDM-1007 (GaN based TTPLPFC).

Within the DigitalPower SDK, you can import and try out any reference designs. Typically the TIDM-DC-DC-BUCK serves as our getting started solution. It include support for the SFRA and Compensation Designer tools. If you are looking more for specifics on how to use those tools, see this document: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spruik4a

If you have come across controlSUITE, please note that it is discontinued. All support is available in the C2000Ware-DigitalPower-SDK.

    Regards,

    Ozino
