Which flash programming tool are you using?  And which version?

Are you able to load the code in to flash using CCS successfully on this board?

We are using Olimex TMS320-JTAG-USB XDS100-V2. When I try to Flash the code from CCS the following error pops up

"

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -2131 @ 0x0)
Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).
(Emulation package 9.4.0.00129)

"

I assume you are using the debug button to build/load/run the sample code.  Instead can you try to launch the emulation session by right clicking on the XDS100V2.ccxml target config, then "connect to target" by right clicking on the C28x CPU in the new window that pops up?  I'd like to make sure we aren't dealing with a generic connection issue vs a flash programming issue.

As you said, the "TEST CONNECTION" was successful. But the error pops up when I go to debug mode. The screen shots are given below

I'd like to try to connect to the device, without using the debug button(which also attempts to load/flash the code and run to main).

If you right click on the target config file(the same one you are running the "test connection"), there should be a popup to "Launch Target Configuration".  Please click on that.  Since the test connection is passing, this should work as well.

This will bring up a new window with the debug probe and the CPUs available on the device.  Right click again on the C28x CPU1 and "connect target"  Let me know if this works, and if not the error output from the CCS terminal window.

Tried the Connect target option but the error as shown in Screenshot is the result. The image on the top is the program we tried to run in the CPU1

Can you configure the boot pins as shown below, to get into Wait Boot mode before powering the device and see if this makes a difference?

I am writing this for vineesh. 

What should be checked after booting into "WAIT BOOT MODE"??

We tried to test connection but it failed after configure the boot pins in Wait Boot mode, but test connection failed.(attached screenshot for your ref.)

we are using 12 Mhz crystal on X1 and X2 pin.

I apologize, I should have been more specific.  Only make the changes to pins 72 and 84, you can leave TRST alone/driven from the JTAG pod.  and yes, with this configured please attempt to connect to the device again.

We tried pulling up GPIO72 and Pulling Down GPIO84. Then too test connection is successful but when we Run/Debug a simple test code it fails. Today We disconnected all the connections to the MCU pins except the VDD,VDDIO,VDDOSC,VDDA,VSS,VSSOSC,VSSA (that is only power supply connections), Grounded X1 and kept X2 Open (to use internal oscillator). Then also Test Connection is only successful, not RUN/Debug.

I think the Code Security Module may be in play here, can you look at the steps listed on page 161 of the TRM https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spruhm8 and see if the password on this device is active?

Can you please tell us hot to read the Code Security Status without flashing any code to the MCU? or is it possible to read the status?

Once you are connected to the device with CCS, the simplest way to do this is to open a memory browser(View->Memory Browser) and then us it to display addresses 0x78028-0x7802F.  If you see all 0xFFFF, then the device is unlocked and the act of reading this will unlock the device.  If this is the case, you can try to load your .out at this time.

If you don't see 0xFFFF, then the device has had a password applied to it and is locked.  This would block any memory loads to secure memory.  If the password is unknown the device cannot be recovered.

Let me know what you see from the above.
