An exodus to TMS320s

Hi guys,

I started to get interested in TMS320s because it's much easier to obtain samples from TI, so please bear with me. I have a moderate experience with PICs, and the way I understood around PICs is not helping in the case of TMS320s.

I just want to get acquainted with TI's MCUs and DSPs so it starts not with a development board, but rather at IC level. So I suppose the way to start with it is to produce a test board like what you'd do with PICs and get a few LEDs to blink and you'd have a starter.

The thing is, I'm pretty clueless on what hardware do I use to load any sort of firmware into a TMS320 (I have a few samples here). The things that I know is that I have just downloaded the CCS (which I haven't paid for any license yet).

So hopefully I'd get a step-by-step guide on how to start properly. Many thanks for the time spent on this thread.

    Abdul,

I would suggest starting with a controlSTICK.  They are inexpensive and come with a copy of code composer (the IDE we use) that can get you started.

There is also a Wiki resource with a number of getting started resources:
