sharing memory with the CLA

Hello,

This is a question about Piccolo 28035.

I am not using the whole sector of RAM assigned to the CLA program and I need some data RAM for the CPU.

It seems to be possible to define a piece of this sector as data RAM for the CPU. I believe that the CPU can access this memory as long as the CLA does not have to access it at the same time.

Can somebody explain me how I can do this in a safe manner?

Thanks,

Max

  • Max,

    The CLA program and data RAMs are only able to be allocated to either the CLA or CPU as a full block.  This means that if you need to use the CLA, you will have to allocate all of RAML3 as CLA program RAM.  Similarly RAML1 and RAML2 can be allocated fully to either the CPU or the CLA.

        Cla1Regs.MMEMCFG.bit.PROGE = 1;        // Configure the RAM (L3) as CLA program memory
        Cla1Regs.MMEMCFG.bit.RAM0E = 0;         // Configure RAM L1, F28035 as memory for the f28x core CPU
        Cla1Regs.MMEMCFG.bit.RAM1E = 1;         // Configure RAM L2, F28035 as CLA data memory 1

    More information on this can be found in the F2803x Piccolo Control Law Accelerator User Guide (spruge6).

    Thank you,
    Brett
