TMS320F280025C: Watchdog reset issue

Please share generated code which service the watchdog.

Above snapshot is the , function which is running periodically to check if counter of other tasks is as expected or not.

It has been called periodically in timer interrupt

Have you checked that timer interrupt is getting called properly a right time. You can put a breakpoint inside timer ISR and see if CPU halts there and then step through the ISR and see if WD is getting serviced as expected.

yes, it is getting serviced properly. Code works as expected in debug mode , (when wdg is not enabled in .asm). I have captured results for all the scenarios in above pdf. Please check once if I am missing something there,

What do you mean by watchdog is not enable in .asm ? Are you referring to "codestartbranch.asm file. If yes, then it may be possible that in standalone mode code is not even jumping to application and WD is issuing reset even before that. Why debug mode code is different ?

Yes , I mean codestartbranch.asm only. Code is not different in debug mode and free run. It's the same. Code is jumping into application , as the other functionality is perfectly working in free run mode. 

I  am wondering, what is causing controller to reset if I enable wdg in .asm and serviced properly in the code.

I am still not clear. "codestartbranch.asm file is part of the application code only should get executed with debugger connected as well as in standalone so you should see the same result. What is your entry point in the CCS project ?

Look like your cinit code is taking long time to initialize the variables (may be too many variables) hence WD is expiring even before jumping to application. To avoid that you can disable the WD in "codestartbranch.asm file and enable inside main only.

I am not sure on how to enable wdg from main after initialisation.

Because, from board.c, there is already wdg_init function which calls wdg enable. 

But when we disable wdg in .asm file, XRSn pin won't be accessed.

I want to know, how to enable wdg from main ,when I disable it in .asm?

Hi,

You just need to call SysCtl_enableWatchdog() function inside your main.c to enable the watchdog.

this function is already there in board.c, 

Hence , I just disabled wdg from .asm and I generated the reset condition forcefully to observe reset pin. But unfortunately, reset pin stays high and does not go low even when reset condition is present.

How are you creating the condition ? Do you see WD count value changing in CCS register view ?

I am not servicing the watchdog, hence after 3.2 ms timeout (as per above configurations), it will reset.
