Hello,

I am trying to use this controller for my design. Is there any way to connect the USB port and reset directly to the DSP, without using "MSP432E401YTPDT"? I was using the "LAUNCHXL-F280025C" LaunchPad development kit as a reference, and we are trying to minimize the board size.

Hi Yun,

The "MSP432E401YTPDT" acts as the XDS110 debug probe. It, or some other external debug probe, is needed if you want to connect to the C2000 device to CCS over JTAG. F280025C does not have the USB peripheral keep in mind as well.

If you're just wanting to program the C2000 and don't need to connect and program using CCS, then you can use some other C2000 communication peripherals (SCI, I2C, CAN, etc) to program the device and use a boot-loader.

Thank you for the answer. If we are using TMDSEMU110-U (the XDS110 debug probe), is there any application note that I can use as reference to see how to do connection/schematic?

Hi Yun,

Yes there are a couple resources for the standard connectors the TMDSEMU110-U comes with.

See section 7.11.5 Emulation/JTAG in the F28002x datasheet. Includes reference schematics for standard 14 & 20-pin JTAG connectors.
1. Both of these are supported by the XDS110 probe

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for answering. After considering it, we decided to use our code to flash F280025C using FT232RL-REEL instead. Is there any way to put the controller in the flash/boot mode? And is there a pin/GPIO on the controller for the DTR(data terminal ready)?

Hi Yun,

FT232RL is a USB to UART converter. So you are wanting to program the device over UART then?
